Bisphenol a epoxy resins

What are the types of epoxy resins?

There are numerous varieties of epoxy resins. For distinction, the names of different monomers are often prefixed to "epoxy resin." Examples include diphenylolpropane (commonly known as bisphenol A bpa) epoxy resin (produced from bisphenol A bpa and epichlorohydrin), glycerol epoxy resin (produced from glycerol and epichlorohydrin), butene epoxy resin (obtained by the oxidation of polybutene), and dicyclopentadiene epoxy resin (produced by the epoxidation of dicyclopentadiene).

Furthermore, even within the same type of epoxy resin, different grades are classified based on variations in viscosity and epoxy value, leading to differences in their properties and applications. Currently, certain grades of bisphenol A epoxy resin are the most widely used, and the term "epoxy resin" commonly refers specifically to the bisphenol A type.
