Acrylic Acid Methyl Ester Major Applications

Normal concrete: 0.12–0.24% (of cement weight)

High-strength/precast concrete: 0.3–0.5% (no segregation at 0.5% dosage)

Low-dosage efficiency: 0.06% dosage = 12% water reduction + 23% strength growth (exceeds ordinary pumping agents)

    Application Scenarios

    1. Coatings Industry

As a key raw material for film-forming substances, methyl acrylate is widely used in formulating water-based architectural coatings, automotive refinish paints, industrial anti-corrosion coatings, and wood coatings. It enhances the coatings’ weather resistance, adhesion, flexibility, and gloss, while reducing VOC emissions—aligning with global environmental protection trends. Ideal for interior/exterior wall coatings, automotive OEM coatings, and marine anti-corrosion coatings.

    2. Adhesives & Sealants Industry

Used in producing pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs), food packaging laminating adhesives, construction sealants, and hot-melt adhesives. It improves the adhesives’ bonding strength, temperature resistance, and aging resistance. Suitable for food packaging (complies with food contact safety standards), construction (joint sealing, waterproof bonding), and electronic component bonding.

    3. Plastics & Resins Industry

Serves as a monomer for synthesizing acrylic resins, polyacrylates, and copolymer plastics (e.g., acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) copolymers). Acrylic resins made from MA are used in acrylic products (PMMA), decorative panels, and optical materials. Copolymerization with other plastics enhances their weather resistance, impact resistance, and surface gloss.

    4. Textile & Leather Industry

Produces textile sizing agents, finishing agents, and leather. Textile sizing agents improve fabric wear resistance, wrinkle resistance, and weaving performance; leather finishing agents enhance leather luster, softness, and durability. Suitable for cotton, polyester, and blended fabrics, as well as genuine leather and synthetic leather processing.

    5. Chemical Fiber Industry

Used in modifying chemical fibers (e.g., polyester, nylon). It imparts anti-static, moisture-wicking, and high-elastic properties to fibers, expanding their application in sportswear, functional clothing, and industrial textiles. Modified fibers show improved comfort and durability compared to unmodified counterparts.

    6. Other Applications

Also used in manufacturing surfactants, plasticizers, crosslinking agents, and pharmaceutical intermediates. In agriculture, it is a raw material for some pesticide formulations; in electronics, it is used in conductive polymers and electronic adhesives.

    Packaging & Storage

    Methyl Propenoate Packaging

    - 180 kg galvanized steel drum (inner lined with anti-corrosion coating)

    - 1000 kg IBC tote (food-grade HDPE, with safety valve)

    - Bulk shipment (ISO tank container, for large orders)

    Storage Conditions

    • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight and heat sources (temperature ≤ 30 °C).

    • Keep away from oxidants, acids, bases, and peroxides to avoid polymerization or decomposition.

    • Seal tightly after use to prevent volatilization and moisture absorption; label clearly with "Flammable Liquid" and "Harmful".

    • Avoid mixing with incompatible substances; store separately from food and beverages.

    • Shelf life: 6 months under proper storage conditions.

    Methyl Propenoate Safety & Handling

Warning: Methyl acrylate is flammable, irritating to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. It may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Strictly follow safety precautions during handling.

    Handling Precautions

    - Wear personal protective equipment (PPE): chemical goggles, nitrile gloves, anti-static overalls, and a respiratory mask (when working in poorly ventilated areas).

    - Operate in a well-ventilated area; use explosion-proof electrical equipment and tools to avoid sparks.

    - Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention if irritation persists.

    - In case of inhalation, move to fresh air and keep the airway unobstructed; seek medical attention if breathing difficulties occur.

    - In case of fire, use dry powder, carbon dioxide, or foam extinguishers; do not use water directly.

    Environmental Protection

Do not discharge waste liquid or residues directly into water sources, soil, or sewers. Dispose of according to local environmental regulations, preferably through professional hazardous waste treatment institutions.
