Overseas Synthesis Processes
Current industrial Maleic Anhydride production routes are primarily benzene-based, n-butane-based, C4 olefin-based, and phthalic anhydride byproduct-based.
Benzene has long been the traditional raw material for maleic anhydride, but limited benzene resources have driven the development of C4 olefin and n-butane routes. Countries rich in natural gas and oilfield associated gas (which provide abundant n-butane) have rapidly scaled up n-butane processes—now accounting for ~80% of global production capacity.
