Phenol & Acetone Condensation for BPA Production
To make acetone fully convert to Bisphenol A BPA, excess phenol must be used in the reaction to reduce the formation of trisphenol. Meanwhile, to drive the reaction towards isphenol A BPA formation, it is essential to remove the water generated in the reaction system. The ion exchange resin used also needs to undergo dehydration treatment in advance; otherwise, it will hinder the isphenol A BPA synthesis reaction.
To prevent the ion exchange resin from losing its activity, strict precautions must be taken to prevent metal ions, especially iron ions, from mixing into the reaction materials. Therefore, great attention should be paid to the selection of equipment materials in engineering.
