Preparation of Crude Bisphenol A Product
Assemble the mechanical stirring device as required. Add 10g of phenol into a four-necked flask, and cool the flask with water externally. Under continuous stirring, add 4ml of acetone. When the phenol is completely dissolved and the temperature reaches 15°C, start adding 6ml of concentrated sulfuric acid dropwise while maintaining uniform stirring. Keep the temperature of the reaction mixture at 18~20°C. Stir continuously for 2 hours until the liquid becomes quite thick. Pour the above liquid into 50ml of ice water in a thin stream, stir thoroughly, let it stand, and cool sufficiently for crystallization.
