Reaction Mechanism
Sodium hydrosulfide is produced by absorbing hydrogen sulfide with liquid caustic soda.
The reaction is as follows:
NaOH + H
₂S → Na₂S + 2H₂O
The absorption process of sodium hydrosulfide anhydrous is carried out under negative pressure. The reaction essentially proceeds in two steps. First, Sodium hydrosulfide anhydrous absorbs hydrogen sulfide to form sodium sulfide:
2NaOH + H₂S → Na₂S + 2H₂O
